March 4: Literature Real and Imagined is a discussion with two writers who use real and imagined literary characters to explore what it means to be a writer, a character, a reader: Sulari Gentill and 2017 Vogel Prize winner Marija Pericic, in conversation with Deb Stevens. March 12: Canberra author L.J.M. Owen launches her new book Egyptian Enigma with a screening of the 1932 classic The Mummy at the National Film and Sound Archive. There's also an event at the National Library on March 22. Egyptian Enigma provides a fascinating insight into the world of ancient Egyptian women, including female Pharaohs (who aren't Cleopatra), gender equality and royal incest.
March 12: That Poetry Thing: Abhishek Gupta and Jane Liddell-King (Britain). An international guest and a stalwart of Canberra's performance scene combine for a varied night of poetic surprises. March 14: At 6pm in the China in the World auditorium, Fellows Lane ANU at a free ANU/Canberra Times/Meet the Author event, Craig Emerson will be in conversation with Andrew Leigh on Emerson's new book The Boy from Baradine, following his journey to the corridors of Canberra. March 14: Poetry at the House at ANU's University House at 7.30pm features Jane Liddell-King (Britain) who has been particularly involved in writing about Jewish issues, diaspora and identity and Lachlan Brown (Wagga Wagga, NSW), whose latest book of poetry, Lunar Inheritance (Giramondo, 2017) explores his Chinese-Australian heritage. $10 waged, $5 unwaged, collected just before the reading starts.
