It's the craze du jour. It's easy to do and doesn't cost a bomb. But there is the clean-up factor to consider.
One youngster who has spotted an opportunity in the slime phenomenon is eight-year-old Tumut girl Una Skein.
She and her brothers Kai, 12, and Misha, 11, have been selling their homemade slime at the Southside Farmers Market in Canberra on Sunday mornings.
The youngsters use glue, laundry liquid and shaving cream, adding colours and glitter.
It's obviously a tried-and-true combination as anyone who has seen the empty shelves of glue around town can attest.
The tubs of homemade slime sell for $3 or $5.
And so far, Una has made about $300. Not too shabby for a year three student.
The siblings do have a bit of an in at the markets - dad Wayne bought the Southside Farmers Markets last year.
Wayne is a farmer in Tumut who owns The Apple Shed, which has been a long-time presence at the markets, selling fruit and pressed cold juice.
He is continuing to oversee his apple business, including the orchards in Batlow, while also running the markets, which last year moved to Canberra College in Launceston Street, Phillip.
"It's probably the best thing we've ever done," Wayne said, of the move.
"It's a very nice, relaxed market. The feedback we've got from customers has been fantastic. They love the vibe, the whole structure of the place."
The markets are open 8am to 11.30am every Sunday. They are open this Sunday, December 17, and next Sunday, December 24, Christmas Eve, before taking a break until January 14.
Una will be selling her slime at the Christmas Eve markets.
"She's very happy and very excited about how it's going," Wayne said.
And he must be a tolerant dad to allow so much slime-making.
"I told her, 'You can make as much slime as she likes but you have to go outside with it'," Wayne said, with a laugh.
Wise words indeed.
