National Film and Sound Archives chief Michael Loebenstein has a sweet way of describing his organisation's support of the Canberra International Film Festival, which began last year and will continue for the next three years.

"Last year we kind of moved in with each other and this year we're tying the knot," he said.
The NFSA will host all the films for the festival from October 27 and November 6. Its beautiful courtyards will also be a focus for associated food, wine and music.
And in a nice quirk, Canberra-raised Samara Weaving will star in one of the festival films, Bad Girl, on November 4. Her dad Simon is a former director of the festival.
Bad Girl is described as "troubled teen Amy befriends local girl Chloe [played by Weaving] but as dark obsessions are unearthed, their two worlds begin to fall apart''.
