About 7.30am on Wednesday 23 November 2016 police caught a 21 year old driver of a white Holden utility driving 120km above the marked speed limit.

Police stopped and spoke to the driver, near Cobbler Road, Jugiong.

He was breath tested at the scene but returned a negative result. However his license and car were confiscated.

The man was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for drive at speed dangerous to the public and exceed speed over 45kmph and is due to appear at Gundagai Local Court on January 13, 2017.

This comes days after another high speed offence in Jugiong.

Police detected a man driving a Honda 600 motorcycle travelling 200kmph in a 110km zone - 90kmph above the marked limit.

The rider, a 19 year old Norfolk Island man, had a vehicle with Victorian registration plates.

He was also issued a field court attendance notice for speed/manner dangerous and exceed speed limit over 45km/h and will appear at Gundagai Local Court on December 16, 2016.

Police reacted to the latest incident and issued a public safety warning to drivers.

Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy of the state's Traffic & Highway Patrol Command warned road users they will he held fully accountable for their actions.

"Whilst this event has cost this young man his licence, his car, and a significant financial penalty, at these speeds his behaviour could quite easily have cost him his life, along with other innocent road users in the event of a crash," Assistant Commissioner Corboy said.

"We know that as your speed increases, so does the distance travelled while processing and reacting to a hazard. At the same time, the distance needed for you to stop also increases."

"Speeding also contributes to the increased risk of losing vehicle control. At higher speeds, cars become more difficult to manoeuvre - especially on corners or curves or where evasive action is necessary."

"With the road toll currently at 348, 33 more than this time last year, road users clearly need to do more to be safe on our roads."
