A man has been charged with assault after he was arrested by a member of the public near Westfield Woden on Sunday.

An ACT Policing spokeswoman said the male victim was sitting outside the shopping centre about 3.15pm when he was assaulted by a 20-year-old Lyons man. He sustained minor injuries.
The alleged offender began walking away from the scene but was followed by a member of the public who made a citizen's arrest.
Westfield Security staff helped the person restrain the alleged offender until police arrived.
Woden officers arrested the 20-year-old and charged him with assault. He will face court later this month.
Superintendent Cath Grassick said the community found assault unacceptable.
"We don't recommend engaging with an offender however, in this instance the alleged offender was able to be restrained and handed over to police," she said.
