A man who police have linked to a string of aggravated robberies at supermarkets and a sex shop in Canberra several years ago has faced court after he was extradited from Queensland.

Sonny Riener Oeti, 30, was charged with possessing a prohibited substance, failing to show up at court and two aggravated robbery offences when he appeared briefly the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday.
He did not enter pleas or apply for bail.
In a statement, released on Monday, ACT Policing said detectives had launched an investigation into five aggravated robberies that they believed were linked between April 13 and July 13 in 2014.
The robberies allegedly happened at the Swinger Hill and Chapman IGA stores, Hello Sexy in Fyshwick, Waramanga General Store and Macka's Griffith Newsagency.
Police said detectives had identified an offender and warrants were issued for his arrest.
"The man, who was remanded in Queensland, was released from the Woodford Correctional Centre on [September 8] and was arrested by Queensland Police on behalf of ACT Policing," the statement said.
"On the same day, members of ACT Policing Criminal Investigations attended the Brisbane Magistrates Court and successfully sought the man's extradition."
Mr Oeti was remanded in custody, but is set to reappear in the ACT Supreme Court on Monday afternoon.
His case will return to the Magistrates Court on October 2.
