A fire which forced a man to flee his north Canberra home has been deemed suspicious by police investigators.

A crime scene has been established at the house in Myall Street in O'Connor following the fire on Friday morning.
The fire started in the bedroom shortly before 8am before spreading to the rest of the house, an ACT Emergency Services spokeswoman said.
She said the fire had extended into the roof space, but there was no threat to nearby homes.
The fire was extinguished shortly before 9am.
The man had evacuated his home before firefighters arrived.
Paramedics were at the scene although he was not believed to be injured.
