Nicholas Sofer-Schreiber's body was discovered at his home in Hall Street about 3.30pm on Saturday.
He had suffered multiple stab wounds.
Friends had gained entry after seeing the 27-year-old's body on the floor and ACT Ambulance and ACT Policing were called.
A crime scene was established and police have been on the scene ever since.
Mr Sofer-Schreiber was last seen on Boxing Day.
