A man drove a stolen car into an apartment building during a police chase on Tuesday afternoon in Canberra, police say.

Police said officers conducted a traffic stop on a stolen car in Belconnen about 3.10pm.
The 33-year-old man allegedly tried to escape police, crashing into the brick wall of an apartment block.
He then drove away from police again, and tried to escape on foot a short time later before being arrested.
He was "charged with ride/drive motor vehicle without lawful consent, unlicenced driver/rider – licence never held, fail to stop motor vehicle for police and two counts of unlawful possession of stolen property", police said.
The man is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
