The Emergency Services Agency said firefighters cut the man from the car after the accident on the Monaro Highway at Williamsdale, south of Canberra.
The ACT Ambulance Service and ACT Fire & Rescue responded to the crash shortly after 8am.
They treated five people at the scene, and took four - the 62-year-old, two men in their twenties and a teenager - to hospital with a range of injuries, including chest, abdominal and leg injuries.
