A man is in a serious but stable condition, after being freed from his car by firefighters using the jaws of the life following a crash in Canberra's south overnight.

Emergency services were called to Adelaide Avenue in Yarralumla, near the Kent Street overpass, at about 3.40am and found the 45-year-old trapped in his vehicle.
Intensive Care Paramedics transported him to Canberra Hospital after he was freed.
No other vehicles were involved.
On Thursday morning, a hospital spokeswoman said the man was in a serious but stable condition.
