ACT Fire & Rescue was alerted to the leak on Soward Way at 8:12am on Tuesday after workers in the area ruptured an underground pipe while digging.
The nearby Manning Clark building has been evacuated as a precaution.
Hazmat crews conducted atmospheric monitoring in the building and the situation was resolved about 10am.
Workers and visitors have been allowed to return to the building.
An ACT Emergency Services Agency spokesman said gas supplier ACTEW has been called-in and is currently assisting to seal-off the leaking pipe.
