Two men pretending to be Child Youth Protection Services workers went in to a Canberra home on the weekend, in the second such instance in the region this year, police say.

Police said the men went to the Melba home about 3.30pm on Sunday and told the occupant they were from Child Youth Protection Services.
"The men were granted entry to the house and left about 15 minutes later without incident," police said in a statement.
"Checks revealed the men were not employees of CYPS and that they had gained entry to the residence under false pretences."
The men were described as Caucasian, in their mid-30s. They spoke with Australian accents and were well dressed.
"Police would like to remind the public that CYPS representatives will always introduce themselves and show photographic identification," they said.
"Police are also aware of a similar incident in the Queanbeyan area involving a man and women."
In that case, a man and a woman went to a Karabar home and spoke to a mother who was home with two babies. They claimed to be Family and Community Services caseworkers and produced what appeared to be an identity card.
