Lifeline Canberra commercial operations director Matt Heffernan said recent suicides were a reminder to not battle negative thoughts alone.
"Canberra has been hit with significant adversity in the last six months, with job losses and Mr Fluffy [pressures]," he said.
"Call, talk to your mates, talk to someone you trust, and whether it's calling us, Beyond Blue or whoever, just seek help."
Last month the widow of Chisholm man Stuart Heddle, who died by suicide in December, urged men not to stay silent when they needed support.
Mr Heffernan said government funding needed to increase as ACT Lifeline's 300 volunteers were now taking more calls than ever before, with numbers up 10 per cent last year.
Lifeline's network of call centres means people call ACT volunteers from across the nation.
"Our ACT government funding has been at $200,000 plus consumer price index rises for 10 years," he said.
"I don't think a doubling of our funding would be unreasonable in coming years."
Belconnen Community Men's Shed secretary Mark Quilligan, 58, said men – who make up three-quarters of suicides in the ACT and nationally – needed to connect with others.
"Contrary to the view we get all the time, the view that 'I am great because I am me', we don't live in a bubble," he said.
The Belconnen shed in Page opened in March last year and has nearly 60 members, with the majority of those aged 50 and older, with some in their 80s.
The air force officer said the devaluing of men once they left the workforce, difficulty transitioning to life after work and a nation-high divorce rate in Canberra were major factors which isolated men.
The most recent ABS figures showed 24 people took their lives in the ACT in 2012, the lowest figure for the previous decade, after a recent high of 41 in 2010.
Community Services Minister Yvette Berry said Lifeline Canberra's funding had risen by 2.9 per cent in each of the last two years, but made no commitment for any future funding rise.
The ACT government's spending on specific suicide prevention measures will rise by 11.6 per cent in the three years to 2017-18.
Lifeline Canberra's next major fund-raiser, the Black Dog Ride, invites motorcyclists to ride from Majura to Batemans Bay on March 22.
