Monique Dignan-Smith from Melbourne took home the crown in 2015 after coming second in the previous year, beating out nine other keen car lovers for the coveted role.

In her new position, Ms Dignan-Smith, 27, headlined the Supercruise at 7.30pm on Saturday and will be the ambassador for the event over the coming year.

She also won part of a $16,000 pool of prize money and photo shoots with both Zoo and Street Machine magazines.

Ms Dignan-Smith said she was very excited to receive the crown and was looking forward to representing the festival around Australia.

She said it was her third time attending the show.

"I really love Summernats, it's definitely a great vibe ... everyone is just here to have a good time and show off their hard work," she said.

A Victorian also came in second place, with the runners-up prize going to Stacey Louise, while third prize went to native Canberran Amanda Beattie.

Onlookers were bribed by Jason O'Halloran to stay on their best behaviour, bringing one crowd member up on stage to help with the judging as a reward for good behaviour at the semi-finals.

"There was no derogatory cat-calling, there was no sort of any negative comments that I heard and the MCs were great at keeping it under control," Ms Dignan-Smith said.

"Summernats is a family event now so I think it's much more that way inclined."
