The event marked the beginning of the Land Development Agency's second round of public auctions of the remediated blocks. Another nine properties in Canberra's south will go under the hammer on Tuesday.

The latest sales also mark the beginning of a process of auctions expected to last a number of years as more than 1000 houses identified as Mr Fluffy homes are demolished and their blocks remediated and sold.

Thursday night's most expensive sales included a 1110-square-metre block at 3 O'Rourke Street in Weetangera and an 815-square-metre block at 18 Cowan Street in Downer.

More than 140 people gathered at the Hellenic Club in Woden to watch the two properties sell for $635,000 each under the hammer.

A 752-square-metre site at 14 Buriga Street in Giralang sold for $487,000, while a 927-square-metre block at 10 Lawrence Close in Macgregor reached $455,000.

A 981-square-metre property at 5 Rentoul Place in Flynn sold immediately after the auctions wrapped up for $425,000.

The remaining four properties passed in, including a 945-square-metre block at 13 Arabana Street in Aranda, a 1119-square-metre block at 8 Flower Place in Melba, a 717-square-metre block at 14 Sherlock Street in Kaleen and an 814-square-metre block at 37 Molesworth Street in Watson.

An ACT Asbestos Taskforce Response spokeswoman said 37 parties registered to bid on the nine properties, with an average of six active bidders per block.

She said many of the buyers were young families.

The first 10 Mr Fluffy blocks were auctioned over two nights in April.

Further sales will continue in a similar format, with two public auctions each month.

The spokeswoman said the process was driven by the taskforce's demolition program, which could last until late 2020.

She said there had been a "strong level of demand and interest" in the properties sold so far.

"As well as being sought after, as they are vacant blocks in established suburbs, there is a level of confidence that comes with buying land from the ACT government," she said.

"The process of sale will continue to be reviewed by the taskforce and the Land Development Agency to ensure the best outcomes are being achieved for the community."

Independent Property Group and Ray White are the selling agencies.

Former Mr Fluffy owners have a first right of refusal to repurchase and rebuild on their remediated blocks.

Land Development Agency deputy chief executive officer Ben Ponton has previously said there will not be an overall profit from the sale of the properties.

The ACT government had committed more than $740 million to the Mr Fluffy saga however, after the resale of the blocks, the cost to the Canberra community is expected to be more than $400 million.
