This year's Nara Candle Festival celebrates the 22nd anniversary of Canberra's sister city relationship with Nara in Japan and is expected to attract more than 10,000 people under the light of 2000 candles.

The festival runs from 4.30pm on Saturday at the Canberra Nara Peace Park at Lennox Gardens park. Entry is free.
Japan's Ambassador to Australia, Sumio Kusaka, said the festival was a terrific way to celebrate peace and goodwill.
"This spectacular event has grown in popularity each year, and it is so heartwarming to see the lively interest that Canberrans have for Japanese culture," Mr Kusaka said.
Japanese origami, calligraphy, lantern-making and yukata kimono dress-ups will be some of the attractions. So too drumming workshops, martial arts, sumo wrestling demonstrations, kite-flying and flying fish.
