More than 6500 people are expected to converge on Canberra next year for the capital's iconic running festival, which has announced the next event will take place on April 14 and 15.

Registration has opened for the Australian Running Festival, which will have a total prize pool of $20,000 and include five courses for entrants.
Runners will choose from several events including the 5km, 10km, half marathon, The Canberra Times Marathon and the 50km ultra marathon.
The festival will start on Saturday April 14 with the 5km and 10km fun runs, while for serious runners, the half marathon, The Canberra Times Marathon and the 50km ultra marathon are scheduled for Sunday April 15.
The courses take runners on a route following the parliamentary triangle, along the banks of Lake Burley Griffin, and finishing on the East West lawns.
Entrants who sign up before January 17 will save $20 off standard registration fees, and will also gain access to an interactive race day app through the event's new presenting and technology partner Tata Consultancy Services.
