Lesley Burns, 21, from Campbell, was also charged with breach of bail on Friday as police allege she sent multiple threatening text messages to a person named in bail conditions.

Court documents presented in the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday said CCTV footage from the David Jones store at the Canberra Centre showed a young woman, pushing a pram, pour a liquid beverage over a rack of Tommy Hilfiger clothes shortly before 2pm on Friday.

A David Jones receipt provided to police said the clothes damaged were worth $4748.

The woman, later identified as the defendant, and two other females with her were asked to leave the store but were followed by "loss prevention officers" to the nearby Bega Flats where they went in different directions, the documents said.

One of the women was observed on foot and told police one of her friends had poured a drink on some clothes.

Police later stopped a white Toyota Camry in the Reid area with two women and a small child inside, and identified the woman in the passenger seat as the defendant.

The defendant was arrested for breach of bail relating to alleged threatening calls and text messages on and before Wednesday, May 6.

The defendant's duty lawyer told the court his client's phone had been stolen. No pleas were entered.

Bail was opposed by the prosecutor on Saturday due to fears of a likelihood the defendant would re-offend if released and would harass an individual named in the bail conditions.

Magistrate Bernadette Boss granted bail on conditions including supervision by Corrective Services, not to approach within 20 metres of David Jones and not to be in possession of a mobile phone.

The matter returns to court on Thursday, May 14, when the defendant faces a hearing on separate charges.
