The owners of Mr Fluffy founder Dirk Jansen's former house are furious at the ACT government's hardline approach to victims of the Mr Fluffy crisis.

Leo and Lorraine Carvalho signed up to the government's buyback scheme but don't want to see the unaffected self-contained studio dwelling on their block destroyed.
An ACT Asbestos Taskforce spokeswoman said there was scope to work with homeowners on retaining improvements such as studios or pools, but only in cases where the homeowner intended to repurchase their block and it was safe to do so.
"If these are not affected by Mr Fluffy and homeowners are seeking to return to their block after the main property is demolished, there may be opportunity for further discussion on these structures remaining," she said.
"However it is important to note that if required, for safety reasons or to ensure the block is cleared of Mr Fluffy asbestos, the improvements would be removed. This will be at the advice of an asbestos assessor."
The Carvahlo's studio dwelling in Lyons is just one of raft of improvements made during a $500,000 renovation which began in 2004 – almost a decade before they discovered the property's disturbing history.
"The studio is another house," Mr Carvalho said.
"Its 10 square metres so that's a pretty decent-sized building to be knocked down and wasted."
An asbestos report from last July found no contamination of the living areas but confirmed asbestos was present in two lower-level garage storage areas under the main home.
Mrs Carvalho said the buyback scheme was far from voluntary.
She said it left people with the choice of getting short changed when they sold under duress to the government, or holding out and perhaps risking their home would be compulsorily acquired.
"I feel badly done by, cheated if you will," Mrs Carvalho said.
"At the very least if the government is taking it away, for whatever reason, they should be able to put me back in the same position."
The Carvalho's 1400 sqm block is set to be rezoned to allow for multi-unit development and up to four dwellings could be built where their home once stood.
"To have a block like this, or in our case six blocks around ours will be a windfall for developers and a windfall for the government," Mrs Carvalho said.
"The ACT government might not make an overall profit on this scheme, but they are making a profit on people like us that have worked hard for what we have got."
