Costa, 72, killed his elderly neighbour Terrence Freebody in the home in July, 2012.
The Mugga Way house was listed for sale by negotiation last year before being withdrawn from the market. It was re-listed in March.
Peter Blackshaw Manuka selling agent Louise Harget said the property had attracted a number of interested parties despite its dark history.
"The vast majority of those enquiring throughout the marketing period were more interested in how the home would suit the needs of their family, rather than the history," she said.
"A couple of groups were looking for a bargain, undoubtably, but I'm guessing they might be looking for quite some time given the heat in the inner south market."
Ms Harget did not reveal the sale price "to respect the privacy of my buyers" but said the new owners were pleased to have secured a slice of blue chip real estate in Canberra.
"Beautiful old homes, especially ones on Mugga Way, always tend to attract good levels of qualified interest, and number 85 was no different," she said.
"The layout and space on offer is excellent – it's a very large, very solid old home with perfect northern orientation to the rear, and the vast bedroom accommodation proved to be popular with buyers.
"The gardens are really well established and were always perfectly kept, which you would expect in the inner south. The garaging under was the size of a normal house; six-car accommodation plus storerooms and wine cellar.
"I spent quite a bit of time at the house over the last month or so, with private buyer appointments."
The street, which starts at the southern border of Forrest and continues through Red Hill for almost 3.5 kilometres, is Canberra's most expensive street and properties are tightly held.
Five houses sold on Mugga Way last year with prices ranging from $1.45 to $2.5 million.
Number 149 sold for $3.4 million in September, 2014, recording the equal highest sales price for the year.
Real estate agents are legally obliged to disclose when a property has a stigma attached to it that could affect the decision of the buyers to purchase the home.
This includes the history of the property, such as major crimes taking place at the home, or the proximity of the home to other properties with such a history.
