Hidden gem? There are so many cool venues in Canberra that could be considered hidden gems, but here are my top three (one of which appeals to quite a different crowd than the others!):

1) Bar Rochford in the city (upstairs) - great wine bar and chilled out environment, cool music selection and great service
2) Molly's speakeasy bar in the city (underground) - a cool relaxed environment and friendly crowd.
3) The Basement in Belconnen - great for heavy metal and rock music, host to loads of live gigs and a top venue for playing pool.
Weekend haunt? Having to work weekends, my favourite haunt is my clients' open homes! Outside of this it would be watching the Raiders play either live at GIO Stadium or at home on the couch.
Place to take visitors? This is pretty much hands-down a winner - the Australian War Memorial! Some other great options are the arboretum, National Portrait Gallery, and if it's the middle of winter, you can't beat relaxing with your guests and a bottle of Canberra district red in front of the fire at Monster Bar.
People-watching spot? Lonsdale Street in Braddon and Kingston Foreshore. My wife also people watches at Fyshwick markets!
Place to unwind? Dendy or Dendy Premium, this is great if I have a day off (usually only on a Sunday).
Treat? Canberra has an abundance of many awesome restaurants, depending on your taste. Some of my favourites are Marble and Grain in Braddon, Morks at Kingston foreshore and Versatile at Gold Creek Village.
