It's the National Portrait Gallery staff as you have never seen them before – in a dance video set to the cheery Tightrope by Janelle Monae.
Now they need your help to win an international museum dance-off. Yes, an international museum dance-off.
The gallery staff made the video for the website When You Work At a Museum, which organised the online dance-off. The website uploads two videos from different museums and viewers have 24 hours to vote for a winner, which progresses to the next dance-off round against another museum.
It's as amusing as it sounds.
The portrait gallery's dance-off takes place on Monday, June 2 (possibly Tuesday, June 3, in Australia, if time differences come into play).
It's the only Australian institution in the informal contest and will be facing off against Otago Museum in New Zealand.
Otago has thrown down the gauntlet with a hipster-filtered dance video featuring staff dressed in onesies, set to Iggy Azalea's Fancy.
But the portrait gallery staff are up to the challenge. Their video starts with a security guard at the gallery in Parkes sipping a cuppa and keeping an eye on proceedings on various security cameras.
To his surprise, he finds himself watching curators, maintenance guys, admin staff and others cutting loose in display cases, in the storage rooms, in the forecourt and in board meetings.
Director Trumble also leads a mass dance on the forecourt, showing some serious attitude.
The video has been uploaded to YouTube in advance of the dance-off.
The latest round of the dance-off, as of Thursday, featured the Menil Collection in Houston, whose staffers went up against the Phoenix Art Museum. At last count Menil was ahead in the voting, with a rather awkward dance set to Moby's We Are All Made of Stars, in a gallery full of coloured lights.
The portrait gallery staffers are flying the flag for Australia and they want your votes. Get behind them on Monday and help them achieve trans-Tasman glory against Otago.
