A Ngunnawal man has been granted bail for an alleged drug-offence in which he claimed ice was salt for his chips.

Kynan Mittl, 22, appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday and was granted bail despite opposition from police prosecutors.
The court heard Mittl was expected to report to the Gungahlin Police Station every Monday and Thursday as he awaits sentencing on a separate drugs charge in October.
After Mittl failed to report last Thursday, police spotted him at the Belconnen Westfield on Friday and arrested him.
A later search that day at the ACT Watch House allegedly revealed Mittl had multiple bags of methamphetamine and syringes.
According to documents tendered in court, Mittl tried to explain the white substance was salt for chips but quickly admitted it was ice.
Prosecutors refused bail, citing fears Mittl would not return to court and commit further offences to fuel his drug habit.
Defence said Mittl had made steps to begin his rehabilitation at Arcadia House, a drug addiction treatment facility.
Mittl was granted bail but Magistrate Karen Fryar warned him to meet his bail conditions, which would require undergoing urine testing.
Mittl is expected to reappear at the ACT Magistrates Court on September 18 for the new, alleged drug-related charge.
