The Nitro Circus Live tour is based on the MTV show of the same name, which sees freestyle motocross rider Travis Pastrana and his crew of action sports athletes trying to out-do each other with incredible and often dangerous extreme sports stunts.
The live tour has been travelling the world since 2010, enlisting the best riders in FMX, BMX and skate, and this February the show will be lighting up Canberra Stadium.
Freestyle motocross rider and Mudgee local Steve Mini, who has been riding professionally for 12 years, has been part of the tour since it started, and says that anyone who comes along to see the show won't be disappointed.
"The show itself is the biggest action sports show in the world," he says.
"Nothing really compares to this. It's just nonstop action. You'll get to see all the tricks – all the latest tricks and all the hardest tricks."
Mini is looking forward to performing the hardest trick of his career on the upcoming tour. Invented earlier this year, it's a four-trick combination that involves doing a backflip on his bike and performing three complex tricks while in the air.
Tackling such a trick might seem like an impossible task to some, but Mini has been working up to this his whole career, and says it's all in a day's work for the riders of Nitro Circus Live.
"You've just got to spend as much time on the bike as possible," he says.
"Sometimes you think of something new and try it to see if it's possible. If it's possible you just stick with it until you get it right. That's what the Nitro Circus guys do – they're always pushing the limits and trying to learn new things and just continuing to progress and learn new tricks."
Mini says that he is looking forward to Nitro Circus's Canberra show in particular – his last show in the capital left him with a broken shoulder so he's eager to get back out there and show the crowd what he's got.
Mini may have one of the most dangerous jobs in the world (he casually mentions that he has broken more than 20 bones over the course of his career) but says that he wouldn't trade it for anything.
"It's pretty much the best job you could have. You get to travel all over the world with your best mates just having fun and getting to ride your dirt bike," he says.
"Just the atmosphere when you do a show, especially a show as big as Nitro Circus, you've got sold out crowds and they just love it. It appeals to all ages, whether you're a little kid or an elderly person, whether you're into action sports or not, the show appeals to everyone."
