What's your earliest musical moment?
Being caught by the next-door neighbour singing Say Goodbye to Hollywood by Billy Joel while playing a tennis racquet as a guitar. I was performing from a stage of garden sleepers in my backyard.

It was also the first time I realised I had an inclination towards performance as well as a great dislike of people watching me. Life can be tough for the overdeveloped mind of a one-year-old.
How do you prepare for a gig?
- Half a packet of plain potato chips
- One pair of red socks
- One pint of dark ale
- Three cigarettes
- Pray to a god of an unknown name
What's your favourite post-gig pastime?
A silent cab ride through an industrial wasteland.
What's the greatest thing you have seen on stage?
Two Indian dwarfs singing Beatles tunes, really well.
What's your best piece of touring advice?
Pace yourself.
Who are your musical heroes?
Billie Holiday, Bill Monroe and Bill Callahan (I got "Bill" thing).
What's on your dream rider?
Cans of coke, bottled water, Irish whisky, and cookies and cream ice-cream.
Who would you most like to tour with?
Willie Nelson, for all the reasons one would find to tour with anyone.
What was your musical epiphany?
I caught the tail end of grunge and everything changed after I heard Nirvana Unplugged in New York.
Describe your sound?
Dark country, heavy soul and the warmth of full sunshine on a bitter winters day.
Tell us something about where you grew up and how it influenced your sound?
I spent a lot of time on different farms and rural dwellings. A sense of reflection, the influence of space and the dance between silence and sound are gifts from this time.
What would you be doing if you weren't a musician?
Someone who played music but didn't tell anyone.
What is something we don't know about you?
I have six middle names.
What does the future hold?
All of us in the palm of its hand, leaving all of us according to its will.
