Openair Cinemas will return to Canberra for its sixth year on Thursday and this year, organisers have made the event more dog friendly, allowing guests and anyone short of company to bring their fur-friends for a "doggy date" to any screening.
Event manager, Erin Algeo said the openair cinema was about spending as much time outdoors as possible with friends and family.
"The aim of the event is to make the most of these balmy summer nights, and what better way to do so than with food freshly cooked onsite and refreshing drinks before a movie under the stars," Ms Algeo said.
"All of our screenings are dog friendly, we even have some dog beds available for hire for doggos to get extra comfy."
She said the event had been a "must do activity in Canberra" since it first started.
Pampered pooches can enjoy the "VID treatment" with a pawfect picnic platter of doggy donuts courtesy of Darby's Dog Bakery & Deli and their very own canine couch.
Ms Algeo said live music and DJ performances would entertain crowds before the screenings and there was plenty of food and drinks on offer.
"People can get delicious pizza, pasta, salads and desserts cooked by Salt Meats Cheese in true Italian style and a wide variety of drinks including 4 Pines beer, Giesen wines, Melbourne Martini cocktails and Pepsi soft drinks.."
Movies that will be screened include Golden Globes nominees; The Post, Call Me By Your Name, Molly's Game, The Disaster Artist, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, Darkest Hour.
All time favourites will also be screened including Dirty Dancing and Rocky Horror Picture Show. And for the families with kids; Paddington 2, Coco, Ferdinand and Wonder will be played.
For your four-legged friends, they mights find it a bit ruff that 101 Dalmatians or Marley & Me isn't on the program, but they'll be dashund through the crowd for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
The event, which is held at the Patrick White lawns next to the National Library, runs between January 11 to February 25 and then will head to Bondi, Auckland, Adelaide, Perth and Christchurch.
Gates open to the event a 6pm everyday with a different film starting after sunset at about 8:30pm.
General admission tickets are $20 and children under aged four and under are free. American Express members receive benefits.
