Roadworks starting on Friday on Hindmarsh Drive and Canberra Avenue in the inner-south of the ACT are likely to continue for at least six weeks, slowing the morning and afternoon commutes.

Traffic between Canberra and Queanbeyan will also be affected with work on Canberra Avenue at Harman.
Transport Minister Meegan Fitzharris said the roadworks were due to be completed in July.
There will be no lane closures but affected traffic will be slowed to 40km/h.
The measures including extending turning lanes.
The right-turn lane from Canberra Avenue into Nyrang Street in Fyshwick - for traffic heading west - will be extended by about 80 metres "improving road safety and also providing a more continuous flow of traffic", the minister said.
The intersection is a popular point for accessing the Fyshwick food markets.
Another turning lane at the intersection of Hindmarsh Drive and Jerrabomberra Avenue in Narrabundah will also be extended by 110 metres for traffic heading west.
An electronic sign has been placed on Hindmarsh Drive, a major link between east and west Canberra, warning motorists to consider taking an alternate route from Friday.
There will also be other work on Canberra Avenue between the ACT and Queanbeyan.
"Safety will also be improved with a crash cushion to be installed at Harman for traffic travelling along Norse Road adjacent to the off ramp at Canberra Avenue. This will help to reduce any damage and injury to vehicles or motorists during a collision," Ms Fitzharris said.
Ms Fitzharris confirmed a 40km/h speed limit would apply until the roadworks were finished.
"The ACT government is committed to safety on Canberra's roads and has invested $700,000 this financial year on road safety measures," she said.
"The latest inner south roadworks incorporate $600,000 worth of upgrades....
"More energy efficient LED street lights will also be installed to accommodate the new extra lane width at the two intersections."
