Officers discovered the plants on Tuesday night, after being called to an Evatt home at about 10.25pm following reports a 38-year-old man had been allegedly assaulted by his former partner.
A number of well-developed cannabis plants were spotted in the backyard.
A search warrant for the property was obtained and 35 plants were seized ranging from seedlings to large plants.
Police say dried cannabis was also found inside the house and a small hydroponic set up was discovered in a shed.
The resident of the property face court at a later date and the alleged assault is still being investigated.
