A former employee of Telopea Park School's after-hours care program has been charged with an act of a sexual nature involving a child.

A letter sent to families of the school from principal Kerry Blain on Thursday said the school's Parents and Citizens' Association had "written to its Before and After School Care families today [Thursday] to inform them of an alleged incident".
One charge relating to a sexual act with a male under the age of 16 is before the courts.
ACT Policing would not comment on the matter, which is scheduled to go before the Magistrates Court next month.
Parents and Citizens' Association president Paul Haesler said the allegation involved a "former employee" of the care program.
He would not comment on the specific incident but, asked if the matter could have affected families previously involved in program, he said, "yes, possibly".
"It's in the hands of police," he said.
"No current employees and children of the program are involved.
"As soon as it became an issue we did everything required of us and could reasonably be expected to have been done."
The association provides the Before and After School Care program.
According to the letter, the program was "running on its normal timetable".
Before and After School Care representative Andrea Grazziadelli would not comment on the specific allegation but said it did not affect current families.
"The incident has not involved any one of our current employees or children under our care," she said.
"If any parents have any concerns, yes, I will deal with that directly."
An Education and Training Directorate spokeswoman confirmed Ms Blain had "informed parents and carers of an alleged incident related to the Parents and Citizens' Association's Before and After School Care program" on Thursday.
"Telopea Park School parents and carers have been informed [and] there is no indication that the incident involved those under care of the Before and After School Care program," the spokeswoman said.
"ACT Police is investigating the matter. For that reason, it is not appropriate to comment further."
The Telopea Park School Before and After School Care program is a fully licensed and accredited out-of-school-hours care provider. It offers permanent and casual bookings for before school, after school and holiday care.
Telopea Park School opened in 1923 and has been a binational French-Australian school since 1983.
