ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to the incident at North Lyneham Mini Mart on Colville Street.
At about 4.15pm a blue 1999 Nissan Pulsar carrying a group of people arrived at the store.
A male passenger exited the rear of the car and entered the store. He threatened an employee with a knife and firearm.
The employee complied with the demands. The man fled the scene in the blue Pulsar with a sum of cash.
He is described as Caucasian, in his twenties, with a slim build.
Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident, have dash cam or CCTV footage of the car, or can provide any information that could assist in the investigation, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website, quoting reference number 6219071.
