Jonathan Mandl, who has relatives who live in the street, said jokes aside, residents are concerned about it and have made numerous complaints to ActewAGL.

"A good example of what a tonne of 11KW transformer does to a pole in subsiding footings," he said.

"A collapse would see live power lines brought down in three neighbouring backyards and heaven help whoever is walking or driving up Hicks St when it happens. ActewAGL assure customers on both sides of street it is perfectly okay."

And ActewAGL has assured us of that, too, via a statement from ActewAGL manager works delivery Clinton McAlister.

"ActewAGL would like to reassure the public that there is no safety concern with the pole in question at Hicks Street, Red Hill," a statement from them read.

"ActewAGL has only received one customer enquiry about this pole, which was in 2012. Following this enquiry, ActewAGL organised an inspection by an independent auditor, which was carried out in 2012. The inspection found the pole was well supported and goes at least two metres into the ground.

"As part of ActewAGL's asset inspection program we inspect every pole in Canberra every four to five years. The pole in question is due to be inspected by July, 2017. However, in response to the customer's enquiry, we will send a pole inspector out to conduct a further inspection on the pole as soon as possible."

And kids can have a go at them at Westside Village every Saturday from 11am to 4pm.

During the school holidays, the jeeps will be running Thursday to Saturday from 11am to 4pm.

The Kidz Jeepz are battery-powered and run on two speeds. Each ride is $5 and last about five minutes.

You need to be aged between six and 10 and weigh under 35kg.

So once you've checked out the jeeps on Saturday, head back to Westside Village on Sunday for the relaunch of its markets.

There will be a jumping castle for the kids along with live music from Drawing North, stalls including, fresh fruit and vegetables, clothing, books, handmade products and more. The markets will be open Sunday from 11am to 4pm.

Westside Village is at 3 Barrine Drive, Acton, off Commonwealth Avenue.

It's getting to that time of year again - the ever-popular Million Paws Walk for the RSPCA.

The walk around Lake Burley Griffin will be on Sunday, May 15. This year, there will also be a shorter walk option around Nerang Pool for those who don't wish to do

In a nod to Rio in , this year's theme is the Olympic Games.

Pooches around the city, like Jasper, are already limbering up for the Paw-Lympic Games - Olympic-style events for dogs.

We hear some Olympic athletes are also being sounded out to officially start the walk.

In 1986 Chris Mobbs, working as a ranger in Uluru, battled a colleague via a coin toss to see who would be the lucky representative to accompany Midnight Oil on set for the filming of their iconic clip Dead Heart. Chris, who now lives in Hackett, lost the coin toss but 30 years later has ended up meeting members of the band.

His story about that time in Uluru won him a 666 ABC Canberra competition asking listeners for their most magical Midnight Oil memory.

Oils fans from as far afield as France, Ireland and the United States shared their memories of the band in the competition, inspired by the band's exhibition at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre.
