A number of public servants were evacuated after threats against several government departments were received on Wednesday afternoon.

Staff were allowed back to work later in the day after the threats were deemed not to be credible.
ACT Policing said an unspecified number of government departments were emailed the threats anonymously.

While the nature of the threat was unclear, a spokeswoman said police were "investigating the veracity of this anonymous threat".
Departments affected included the Department of Communications and Arts in Barton, where workers inside were told to stay at their desks while those outside were barred from returning to the building. Things returned to normal as of 3.45pm.
It is understood the nearby Department of Foreign Affairs and Trading was evacuated about 1.45pm, after earlier not being affected.
By 3.30pm, workers had been allowed to re-enter the building.
"Business is back to normal and DFAT staff have returned to work after being evacuated," a spokesperson said.
It is also understood the Department of Finance in Forrest was evacuated about 12.30pm, but staff were allowed to return to work later in the day when the threat was "deemed not credible".
It is not known how many government departments received the email at this stage.
