Ajitpal, 31, and Randhir Singh, 21, are on trial in the ACT Supreme Court defending allegations they abducted the woman from a Belconnen shopping centre and sexually assaulted her in a car and at a unit in September last year.

Randhir contacted the woman via a social media application Tango on September 25 and the pair agreed to meet at Kippax Fair Shopping Centre the next day, the court was told.

The Crown alleges she tried to back out of the encounter at the mall when she saw Randhir with Ajitpal and a third man, Jaskaran Sandu, 33, who left Australia shortly after the alleged incident.

Ajitpal testified on Thursday, denying that he told the woman he would show the messages to her husband or something might happen to her child if she did not come with them.

He said the woman told him she still wanted to go but not with three men. He and Sandua then went to pick up a car from a friend and they returned to the shopping centre so Randhir and the woman could go in his friend's car.

They all later returned to Ajitpal's Belconnen apartment, with Randhir parking the car in the underground car park before he and the woman when upstairs.

Ajitpal said when he and Sandu got upstairs, Randhir and the woman were inside a bedroom and the door was closed.

He told the court Sandu unexpectedly took his phone and went into the room and took photos.

Ajitpal said the woman started crying and he went and spoke to her, offering to let her delete the photos off his phone.

A short time later, Randhir came and told them he had to go because he had a call from home and Ajitpal told the woman "the boy has to go" and asked if she wanted to leave, but she said she did not want to go home yet as her husband would be home late.

Ajitpal testified the woman later told him she wanted to be his friend and said she wanted to have sex with him.

He said they had sex once and the woman was on top. He denied they had anal sex and disputed her claim the sex was non-consensual.

"It was up to her, that's why it was done," he said.

Ajitpal said he later asked the woman again if she wanted to leave but she told him she would leave in 15 or 20 minutes and if he could take her home.

Another man who was living in the apartment but is not alleged to have been involved gave the woman a lift home.

Earlier in the day, the jury was played audio from a search warrant at the Belconnen unit where Ajitpal claimed he did not know the woman.

When police advised him he was being arrested, he repeatedly stated he did not know the woman and had done nothing wrong.

The jury was also shown a police interview with Randhir where he told them he could prove the allegations against him were false by showing them the Tango messages on his phone.

He told police the woman had told him to take down his pants when they were in the car and she had started caressing and sucking his penis.

He also said the woman was not able to "control herself" and had wanted to have sex in the underground car park, but he told her he did not want to have sex there and they should go up to his room.

The trial continues on Friday.
