A brood of chickens living in a Canberra backyard have been decapitated, with some of the heads being thrown over a fence.

RSPCA ACT inspectors are investigating the brutal killing of six chickens in Melba.
Between 8.30am and 2.30pm on Saturday, November 21, the unknown offender or group of offenders entered the rear yard of a house in Goossens Place.
The person or group decapitated the chickens and a couple of their heads were thrown over a fence.
Senior Inspector Catherine Croatto urged the community to pass on any information about the killings.
"This is a disgusting case of animal cruelty," she said.
"We are now asking the public to please call us if they have any information regarding who may be responsible for this action. All information is treated in a confidential manner."
