Given the tragedy of the Christchurch shootings, Anzac Day 2019 may turn out to be one of the most moving yet, as it honours the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who served in the Gallipoli campaign and all who have fought and died in combat.

It also gives us a chance to once again remember the strong ties between the two countries, our shared history and regard for each other.
We put the question to the Australian War Memorial on Friday: would be any greater emphasis on the New Zealand contribution this April 25, given the Christchurch tragedy? Perhaps a haka?
Wouldn't that be stirring? Uplifting? Beautiful?
But at this late stage, it seems the running sheet won't be altered.
We're told that at the national ceremony at the War Memorial, as is the tradition, there will still be a wreath-laying by the New Zealand High Commissioner, the playing of the national anthems of Australia and New Zealand, and an observance of one minute's silence.
