A light aircraft crashed north of Bungendore on Saturday afternoon, and a 49-year-old pilot reportedly removed himself from the wreckage.

The crash occurred after takeoff from a private airstrip at a Currandooley property just outside Bungendore just before midday.
It is understood the aircraft was not able to successfully climb over the hill on the eastern side of the runway, possibly due to wind turbulence from the easterly wind.
A Civil Aviation Safety Authority spokesman said the plane became damaged after clipping a tree.
The incident was reported to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, which confirmed it was a Piper Tomahawk - a single-engine plane - that had crashed.
The bureau said it would follow up with the pilot next week.
A post to the Bungendore Rural Fire Service Facebook page just before 2.30pm on Saturday said the crew was on scene at the crash site.
"The pilot got himself out, which looking at the scene is nothing short of a miracle," the post read.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said emergency services were called to Tarago about 11.20am on Saturday after the plane made an emergency landing.
"The aircraft landed in a paddock on a private property on Currandooley Road," the spokeswoman said.
"The 49-year-old male pilot was taken to Queanbeyan hospital with non-life threatening injuries."
