A section of Southern Cross Drive in Belconnen has re-opened after a truck spilled a load of dirt removed from a Charnwood Mr Fluffy demolition site on Tuesday morning.

The truck was travelling from the Charnwood demolition site to the West Belconnen tip to dispose of the dirt, when the truck's gate appeared to malfunction, spilling dirt on the road about 10am Tuesday.
There was no evidence to suggest the dirt spilt contained any asbestos material, but WorkSafe ACT and the Environment Protection Authority were called to the site.
Staff from Roads ACT were also called to the site and the spill was cleaned up on Tuesday afternoon.
A government spokesman said in a statement that Worksafe ACT was investigating the spill, and was "unable to provide further comment" until the investigation was complete.
