Streets in the new ACT suburb of Moncrieff will be named after deceased Australian musicians, including Chrissy Amphlett, Slim Dusty and Johnny O'Keefe.
An Environment and Planning directorate spokesman said all roads and public places in suburbs were named according to a theme.
"The theme in Moncrieff is 'Musicians and those associated with the field of music'," he said. "The suburb themes are selected by the ACT Place Names Committee and recommended to the Minister for Planning."
The suburb was named after Australian singer and musical theatre star Gladys Moncrieff, who performed in concerts for troops in both World War II and the Korean War.
She was awarded an OBE and was referred to affectionately in Australia as "Our Glad".
Australian rock star Chrissy Amphlett will have a street named after her, while country legend Slim Dusty will receive a lengthy crescent in his honour.
Other famous Australian musicians have been remembered in street names including Aboriginal performer Jimmy Little, who died in 2012, and folk singer John Dengate.
Former Canberra Times music critic Bill Hoffmann OAM, who died in 2011, has also been given a street name in the new suburb.
He was the musical director of the Canberra City Band for 28 years and wrote several books about the Canberra music scene.
