Students face a vague slop

Steve Ellis (Letters, December 16) is spot on in identifying the loss of school-based curriculums in the ACT as a lamentable failure. A cohort of former students, including myself, can trace our improved grades to the specialised, creative and engaging classes that were offered by our school and conveyed by passionate educators (such as Mr Ellis) who often had first-hand experience in the subjects that they were teaching.
