The Summernats City Cruise will strut (read: roll) its stuff down Northbourne Avenue and the Federal Highway on Thursday, causing some delays and closures throughout the day.

Cruisers will leave from Exhibition Park in Canberra at midday on Thursday and will head down the Federal Highway and Northbourne Avenue, before turning back at London Circuit.
The cruise will go for approximately one hour, with police out in force to maintain the large crowds expected and an alcohol ban in place across the entire parade route.
Transport Canberra's traffic and safety senior manager Rifaat Shoukrallah said Northbourne Avenue and the Federal Highway will see rolling closures as Roads ACT coordinates traffic lights with the cruise to minimise delays to other drivers.
"We want to see people enjoy this event in safety and, to allow this, temporary road closures will be in place," Mr Shoukrallah said.
City Cruise route
- The Cruise will leave from the entrance to Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC) off Flemington Road. It will travel down the Federal Highway and Northbourne Avenue to the intersection with London Circuit. It will then return along Northbourne Avenue, concluding at the entrance to EPIC at the intersection of the Federal Highway and Stirling Avenue.
Closures
- Rolling closures will be in place along sections of the Federal Highway and Northbourne Avenue
- For the duration of the Cruise, Flemington Road between Randwick Road and the Federal Highway will be temporarily closed.
- Road users should seek an alternative route
Closure times
- The Cruise will start at midday Thursday 5 January and will take approximately one hour.
Information for spectators
- For safety, the public is not permitted to watch the Cruise from the central median strip on Northbourne Avenue or the Federal Highway
- The public must also not enter any fenced areas or worksites along the Cruise's route
- The best vantage points are in the city and at the entrance to EPIC at the intersection of the Federal Highway and Stirling Avenue.
- Parking is available in the city and at EPIC via Old Well Station Road, off the Federal Highway
- An alcohol ban is also in place along the Federal Highway and Northbourne Avenue for the duration of the Cruise
