Tharwa Drive, from the roundabout intersection at Drakeford Drive to Mentone View, will be closed from Monday, January 5 until Australia Day on January 26.
The closure is allow for the installation of a sewer main pipe to be connected to the new South Tuggeranong Fire and Rescue Station.
"The construction team are confident of completing the works by mid-January however additional time for the work to be done because of the potential for bad weather and, or issues with the road excavation," Emergency Services Agency Commissioner Dominic Lane said.
Residents, business owners and workers travelling in the area are advised to plan ahead as there may be traffic congestion and delays, particularly during peak periods.
Mr Lane said work had been scheduled for January to cause the least amount of disruption, as it was traditionally a quiet time of year.
He said construction on the new fire station was on track and was expected to be finished in March.
The ACT government committed $17.4 million in the 2013-14 budget to build the new fire and rescue station in South Tuggeranong.
