Benedict House, a former convent, was passed in at auction in mid-March, with new custodians Jessica and Rory Markham taking over the reins in April.
The Markhams are now renovating and opening up a gallery space, to allow local artists to once again have a dedicated space to exhibit.
The vision is for Benedict House is to become a creative space with performances, exhibitions and workshops, that combines music, art and food in a revival inspired by Abbotsford Convent in Melbourne.
The couple is also working with musician Tim Keeble to plan an extension of the space into the vacant building next door.
