I remember when I was first pregnant with my second child and was in for my first check-up with the obstetrician – he casually asked if there was a history of twins in my family. It's just that you're quite large for your dates, he said. Panic stations until the ultrasound a few weeks on, as my fraternal grandmother had had twins who, alas, had both died as babies. In the end my son was just big but for a while there I contemplated being a parent of twins and some part of me thought I might kind of like that. Today's cover story is an interesting look at twins, as we head into Multiple Birth Awareness Week.
