At 77-years old, Patrick O'Flaherty says he has participated in every The Canberra Times Fun Run ever.
Rain, hail or shine, the septuagenarian walks the 2 kilometre round trip from his house to the Mawson shops every day, which he says is his training.
O'Flaherty has walked the 5-kilometre course every year that he remembers.
The spritely grandfather of two, who also used to play squash, said he does the event because he wants, "to feel alive".
"I enjoy the fun run. I don't go in it to win it. I go in there for the enjoyment," he said.
He has a trove of medals from the events over the years. He also said he has kept every T-shirt and cap from the events over the years - but there are too many to count.
As well as the 5km distance, there are 10km and 14km races at the event on Sunday September 4.
