Actually, it's sold out worldwide. Your best chance of buying one in Canberra is via Gumtree - where a seller named Renee has put a 100% mark-up on the toy and is charging $220.

Super Toyworld & Hobbies Managing Director Geoff Morton has a waiting list for Hatchimals, but said the chances of any arriving before Christmas "are slim to none".

Target and Kmart have completely sold out of the Friends Amusement Park Roller Coaster but Geoff has a couple left in teh Fyshwick store. The box includes a roller coaster, ferris wheel, drop tower, entrance booth and a dining area, as well as four mini dolls.

Voted Toy of the Year by the Australian Toy Association, Qixels are cubes that fuse together with water to create 3D animals and other characters. The 'No heat, no glue, no mess' promise will appeal to all Canberra parents, but Geoff reckons kids are loving Qixels because they draw on the Minecraft premise of "building things with blocks".

Imagine two Brumbies players who've forgotten to take their mouthguards out having a conversation in the changerooms after the game. This is the idea behind new game Speak Out - "the ridiculous mouthpiece challenge game" - where the player who's "in" wears a mouthpiece and says a phrase or a line from a song and the others have to guess what it is. It's that simple. And it's selling like hotcakes.

Like seriously - how cute is this?! More a decoration for a bedroom or garden than a toy, the tooth fairy school is 27cm high and solar-powered. It charges during the day and the interior of the school lights up in the dark, making it seem as though the trainee fairies are studying well into the wee hours of the night. It's from the Chloe's Garden range which also includes fairy houses, fairy doors and even a fairy hospital.

Drones were huge in Canberra in 2015 according to Geoff, but this year there's unprecedented demand for quadcopters - drones with four rotor blades to keep them in the air.
