Written and directed by artistic director Julian Hobba, The Slip Lane is one part drama, one part political satire and one part supernatural.

The play has all the ingredients to be possibly the most Canberra play ever written

Matthew (Dene Kermond) and Missy (Clare Moss) are both in their mid-30s and divorced and meet at Access Canberra.

Depressed and on leave from work through Comcare, Matthew, who "hasn't left Gungahlin in a year" is seeking purpose in life through mounting a campaign to improve the aforementioned intersection.

The events all take place in Canberra's newer northern suburbs, which is a central aspect of the play.

"With Gungahlin, it's that sense of space and that this city just feels like it pops up out of nowhere," said Kermond.

"And because of the philosophy of the design of the place, you look upward and you just see space and nature and sky, and so forth. So that whole idea of I guess being in a community and yet at the same time, it feeling very very spacious and a bit kind of in the middle of nowhere."

The play also features some happenings in Gungahlin that you probably haven't encountered yourself.

"They encounter a demon who's basically set up there because it's so spacious and there's nice gently undulating hills and so forth that the demon can go for a jog and stretch its legs," he said.

"However being a demon it has an agenda and likes to get itself mixed up in people's lives."
