A Canberra man threatened to kill his former partner after she refused him access to his son when he admitted he had used ice.

James Conrad Loulanting, 29, first abused the woman and then threatened to kill her in text and phone messages.
"There is 1 bullet 4 u and there is 1 bullet 4 me. Do not think I am joking ok," one text said.
Loulanting was jailed on Tuesday after he pleaded guilty in the ACT Supreme Court to charges of making a threat to kill, contravening a protection order, and failing to appear before the court.
Court documents said Loulanting had been in a relationship with the woman for about two-and-a-half years before they split in 2014.
The victim took out a domestic violence order to last two years, which banned the offender from threatening her harm, and harassing or contacting her.
In January, Loulanting - an ice addict - became abusive when the woman refused to let him see their son because the offender had admitted to using the drug.
He then sent a number of text messages threatening self-harm and calling the woman names.
The following day, after refusing another request, she then received a barrage of text and phone messages threatening to kill her.
"I want to c my son b4 the day turnz very bad. I will kill u 2day," one text said.
In a voicemail message he said: "I have lost everything and now you're going to lose everything, I am going to end your life by the end of the day."
The victim called police and Loulanting was arrested in February.
Court documents said Loulanting had been subject to a good behaviour order for an attempted aggravated robbery at the time of the offence.
The court heard Loulanting had a significant criminal history with convictions for violence and dishonesty.
Justice Richard Refshauge, in sentencing the offender, said his history of offending had been "worrying".
Justice Refshauge found the crimes were not the most serious versions of the offence, but were aggravated by the volume and content.
"He has now had a number of chances provided by suspended sentences but has continued to breach them and, more culpably, by committing further offences," the judge said.
"In this case, the breaches were deliberate and intentional.
"They were, of course, also committed while Mr Loulanting was on conditional liberty."
The court heard the offender had first tried ice at age 19 and became a regular user from 2011, using four to five "points" each day until jailed in June last year on an unrelated offence.
The court heard he had taken unsuccessful steps to address his addiction.
The judge also noted that Loulanting had recently sought counselling for post-traumatic stress disorder he suffered after being abused as a child.
Justice Richard Refshauge accepted that Loulanting was remorseful and wanted to access rehabilitation.
But the judge said the offender had not yet been able to "commit himself to reform".
"It is never too late, but he must accept the consequences of his failure to pursue rehabilitation when he had the opportunity."
The judge sentenced Loulanting to four years' jail, backdated to take into account time spent in custody, with a non-parole period of two years and seven months.
He will be eligible for parole in July 2017.
