The Canberra Liberals have called for a police investigation after two female campaigners were threatened in "politically motivated" attacks on the same night.

The events occurred a day after the Liberal party's office was subject to repeated calls threatening burglary.
In the first incident, a volunteer in her 20s, who did not wish to be named for this article, caught a man slashing Liberal party corflutes along Hindmarsh Drive just before midnight on Friday.
"I stopped a bit further away to see what was happening and then I came closer to take some pictures, because it's illegal," the volunteer said.
"We've had so many of our signs taken down, it's very unfair.
"Many of our volunteers have spent lots of time putting out signs along Hindmarsh Drive."
The volunteer said when the man brandishing what she believed to be a machete saw her taking his photo, he approached.
"He came up close to the car and that's when I started to get scared and I drove off," she said.
"I was angry [before that], it's hard to see all your hard work getting slashed down in the middle of the night."
She called police to report the incident. A post on the party's Facebook page on Saturday called for community support to identify a man from the photos.
"If we're going to have a fair campaign, let's play it fair," the volunteer said.
In a separate incident on the same night, candidate for Murrumbidgee Jessica Adelan-Langford had her car window smashed.
She felt the attack was targeted, given other vehicles in the area weren't touched.
"It's made me feel pretty uncomfortable," she said.
"I didn't brand my car because I transport the kids in it all the time … I've always assumed losing signs is part and parcel of being part of an election, and everyone even semi-jokes about it, but this is taking things to a completely different level."
Liberal campaign manager Daniel Clode said that standard of behaviour was unacceptable.
He said the party wanted police involvement so that, "at a practical level, people know they can't get away with it".
A spokesman for ACT Police said incidents like this would be looked into.
Meanwhile, Labor party secretary Matt Byrne said despite the general sign vandalism, from what he could tell no Labor candidates had been intimidated or had threats made against them during this election campaign.
