Ridesharing company Uber is searching for an operations and logistics manager after receiving more than 3000 applications for driver positions in the ACT.

According to Uber's general manager David Rohrsheim, an additional 350 are expected to attend an information session in Canberra on Thursday night.
Mr Rohrsheim said close to 20,000 people had already opened the Uber application on their smartphones in Canberra, despite the service not expected to arrive until at least October.
"This is by far the most interest we've seen prior to launch anywhere in Australia," he said. "This is clear evidence of demand for more safe, reliable and affordable point-to-point transport options in the city."
An Uber spokesman said the number of applications was surprising given there were only 4000 registered drivers in Sydney and 15,000 nationwide.
The Australian Taxation Office has not ruled out the possibility of using Uber to transport public servants after paying nearly $4 million for taxis in the past year.
The ACT government is expected to release the findings of an independent review of Canberra's taxi industry within weeks.
The ridesharing company has not conducted a detailed modelling of how many drivers would be required in Canberra, but has advised the government the service could grow in peak periods.
In June, ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr said the government would consider transition plans to help the taxi industry adjust to the arrival of Uber.
But Canberra Taxi Industry Association chairman John McKeough said he was concerned the measures would not be enough to protect taxi drivers from the threat of Uber.
"Some people think taxi owners are millionaires but the reality is well over 90 per cent of them are individual owners," he said.
According to a research paper by The Australia Institute, which was commissioned by Uber, ridesharing services could ease strain on existing taxi services during parliament sitting weeks with staffers described as "heavy users of taxis".
The report also said Canberra had the lowest number of taxis per capita in Australia and 30 per cent less than Sydney.
But Mr McKeough said the report did not consult with the taxi industry and there had been too many cars on the road since 2010.
"Since the beginning of 2014, the number of jobs per car has increased by two a day and if Uber come along they will likely take those jobs," he said.
"Taxi people are pretty dogged and they are just hanging on, but if they but if they are not making money then that is a different story," he said.
According to the job description, the Uber operations manager will control the supply of Uber services to the city and monitor the quantity and quality of drivers available in Canberra.
"In order to efficiently manage the supply of cars we have on the road you need to be able to constantly monitor and understand trends in supply and demand, and use our data to make the right data-driven operational decisions," the job advert said.
The Uber spokesman said there was no typical Uber driver and positions had been filled by part-time mothers, students and full-time drivers, although the workforce in Canberra would reflect.
